Position Summary:


The ideal candidate profile for this position is someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced and changing environment; enjoys a challenge; possesses a strong customer service focus and a “can do” attitude; and, instinctively knows who his or her target audience is and how to effectively “speak” to that demographic.


Reporting to the Director of Finance, the incumbent assists in all phases of Finance to achieve the common goal of accurate student account processing by maintain accurate recordkeeping and the lowest Accounts Receivable possible in compliance with the accepted accounting policies and practices of LaSalle College Vancouver.


Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Provide coverage at the Finance window and assist students with questions related to their account and with making payments
  • Prepare daily bank deposits
  • Check and balance payment plans with student account transaction histories for pending graduates, re-entry and in-school student refund processing
  • Approve students for financial clearance for registration, class starts and graduation
  • Make recommendations for those students who do not qualify for financial clearance
  • Post student adjustments when receiving cheques from the collection agency and as required
  • Process admission cancel/adjustment forms and student NSF cheques in a timely manner
  • Calculate drop tuition and fee credit in accordance with LaSalle College Vancouver’s policies, executing the adjustment to the student’s account and the resulting refund, if any, while ensuring compliance with the refund distribution policy
  • Maintain weekly analysis of Accounts Receivables based on the most recent month-to-month source Accounts Receivables analysis
  • Assist in the quarterly account billing conversion to assure accurate status and classification
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

Job Requirements:




  • Diploma in Financial Management or Accounting or a related field
  • 2 to 3 years’ relevant experience supplemented by front line customer service experience
  • Experience in Higher Education would be an asset




  • Strong Excel skills as well as exposure to more concentrated financial software programs
  • Superior organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a range of populations
  • Effective team and partnering skills
  • Mathematical skills to a sufficient level to support student account reconciliations and refunds, preparation of daily bank deposits and working with numbers
