The General Manager role is the right hand of the President, and is tasked with running day-to day production activities and operations by implementing the right processes and practices across the organization.

The specific duties of a General Manager include formulating strategy, improving performance, managing operational budgets and profitability, hiring and training resources and delivering excellent customer service. You should be ready to mentor your team members, find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way
  • Manage Production, Project Management and Development departments directly
  • Oversee all departments and personnel in the absence of the President, including handling key decisions for the optimal functioning of operations
  • Ensure a pleasant and safe work environment for all employees
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee office needs
  • Ensure that all departments offer exceptional customer service at all times
  • Find ways to increase quality of customer service
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives with the executive team
  • Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability
  • Manage budgets and forecasts
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs
  • Recruit, train and supervise staff
  • Handle all HR-related issues for employees, and work with corporate HR to ensure escalation when necessary

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven work experience as operations director/manager, executive director, or similar role (8-10 years)
  • Proven work experience in an eLearning company, ad agency, with global affiliates preferable
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Degree in Business, Operations Management or related field
  • You have excellent English verbal and written communication skills; Arabic/Spanish are an asset
