Languages Across Borders (LAB Melbourne) is an established ELICOS college on Collins St in the CBD. We run NEAS-accredited General English, Specialist English programs and IELTS courses for International students.

 

A member of the LCI Education Network which is present on 5 continents, we form a language training organisation which aspires to provide high quality learning outcomes for students within a caring and supportive learning environment. To help us achieve this, we are looking for Admissions Advisors to join our friendly, tight-knit and dedicated team of professionals.

 

About the Role

 

The International Student Support Services officer will work as part of a team responsible for providing information, advice and services for both commencing and enrolled students at LAB. This position also provides support to the admissions and administration team to ensure quality delivery of services in accordance with the legislative instruments protecting international students: ESOS Act 2000, ESOS Regulation 2001, the National Code 2008, NEAS requirements and the ELICOS National Standards.

 

The position is responsible from providing general welfare support and advice on financial matters, work, personal and administrative problems, and ability to refer to appropriate services within LAB’s policy and procedure.

 

Key responsibilities

  • General administrative duties ie. Photocopying, filing, equipment ordering
  • Answer the telephone and ensure that either the required person receives the call or a message is sent to the staff member or student to return the call
  • Monitor attendance and retention, and liase effectively with the Academic Director and Registrar to manage student attendance and to promote continued participation
  • Contact students at risk of failing to meet their course attendance requirements and with students at risks for counselling.
  • Provide guidance and institute information to students and individuals to ensure they are informed about key aspects of the school provision and support available
  • Regular updates / uploads of student information on both eBecas and PRISMS
  • Liase with other staff members to ensure that students needs are met
  • Provide help and support to new students with settling in Australia
  • Assist with data entry
  • Assist with various administrative tasks concerning students such as; leave requests, printing daily attendance rolls, change of course, change of address, payments, updating class attendance rolls, preparing new students files for each week, printing student cards, etc.
  • Assist with Tax File Number, ABN, Police Checks for students
  • Run placement tests for students
  • Provided weekly audits for the Registrar
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Resolve enquiries via phone and email

Key selection criteria

Education/Qualifications

  The appointee will have:

  • a degree in a relevant field with subsequent relevant experience, and extensive experience in a sales/recruitment role within the industry.

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Previous experience working with international students and current knowledge of Elicos issues.
  • Highly organised and efficient with the ability to multi task.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proven ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills for the provision of exceptional customer service.
  • High level computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with CRICOS and PRISMS requirements.
