ONAROMAZ COLLECTION

Onaromaz mean’s Zamorano turn around, and Zamorana is the name of my birthplace, which is located in Colombia. The concept from which this collection comes out, it’s the new ways of communication, in which the phone is involved and how the message changes from the one sent to the one received. But telephones not only separate they actually connect distances and in my case, it’s been the way to stay close to my family It’s based on how migrations enrich someones culture. That’s why this collection is a combination between the future and the past. The history I already wrote and the one I am writing, because there is no future without a past. That’s why this collection is the result combination between craft techniques, such as macrame, the typical bead bracelets and leather worked following the idea of a patchwork. And more technologic techniques expressed with bright and technical fabrics and more rounded silhouettes, that alters the original body silhouette, because of the added volume. We can also see the combination of both past and future with a special bee nest pleated fabric. The mixture of fabrics and textures are the representation of the variety that there is in the world. It expresses my family migration, but not only mine’s, also the one from all the families that had to fly from his hometown looking for a better future. And how everyone is always in constant change. We need to learn from our past, that should be our foundation and preserve it, but also evolve in order to adapt to the new times. Onaromaz it’s a union between races, cultures and thoughts. It is a plea of that we are all different, as individual beings, but the same, and that united we are stronger, and that we should all learn from each others strengths. We can fuse the past and the present for making a better future.
