Georgia’s ancient and vibrant capital, Tbilisi, is located on the banks of the Mtkvari River and surrounded by the Caucasus mountains. The concept of the city branding was inspired by Tbilisi’s rich and colourful history. The design reflects ancient and contemporary history through traditional symmetric elements of Georgian art as well as Tbilisi’s contemporary high tech geometric buildings. The logo incorporates two parts of important buildings of the city that belong to the 4th and 21st centuries. The top of the logo - dome - is an apex of Sameba Cathedral that serves as a symbol of the contemporary era. The second element is the bottom part of the logo that represents the walls of the Old City - a symbol of an ancient 4th century era. The colour pallet of the branding reflects the meaning of Tbilisi that derives from the Old Georgian word “tbili”, meaning warm.
