The Pedicab Chair (2018)

The Pedicab chair, got its name basing from the concept of the chair itself which is formed through the ideals of a traditional makasaar transportation, Becak. The chosen design material for this piece is based from different kinds of rattan wood ranging from its thickness and types giving a balanced feel and depiction of both its function and aesthetics. The concept of the chair comes from Makasaar's very own transportation the Becak. The becak is the Indonesian incarnation of the ubiquitous pedicab, or cycle-rickshaw, found everywhere in Indonesia especially Java, the true heartland of the becaks. The becak is as much a motif and symbol of Indonesia as the silhouette of a wayang kulit puppet, or the smell of a clove cigarette. DIMENSION: 1150 X 1040 x 700 MM MATERIAL: RATTAN WICKER, RATTAN CORE FINISH, RATTAN CORE NATURAL FINISH & CUSHION GREY
