I took part in Vancouver's Eco Fashion Week: Chic Sheets Challenge, in which we were to design, dye and construct a garment in the theme of Canada 150: What Canada Means to Me. We were to use recycled bedsheets from the Fairmont Hotel at Waterfront to construct our garments and dye them using Tintex dyes.
My hand-drawn illustration of my design, 'Scales'. I knew that I wanted to use the scale-style smocking technique, so I took inspiration from my home town, Port Alberni, which boasts the slogan, "Salmon Capital of the World".
