Juan Pablo Benitez Machado Demo Reel 2017

Over the course of nine months, I worked on a VR student project Called Fletcher's case. During this time I designed and prototyped several puzzle elements that aided in the storytelling of the level. Some of which were scrapped due to time constraints. During the late stages of the game, I was tasked with making the main menu environment, the titular Detective's office. I worked closely with artists in order to reduce the number of assets needed for both the office and said puzzles. The second project was made from scratch in a period of 10 weeks. Due to the short time window, many aspects of the game came to be due to limitations. One such example is the art style. The simplistic nature of the art both disorients without distracting them. Another example is the soundtrack. The game uses only two songs that loop different parts of themselves that play depending on the speed of the player. Both of this elements create an almost trance-like reaction from the player as they seemingly are unable to stop playing until they beat it.
