Winnetou

Winnetou is a western and action-packed trilogy, originally published in 1842 and was written by Karl May. The overall idea behind redesigning the covers for Winnetou was to create a whole new identity for the books. As the book trilogy is old, the design of the books was very dated, traditional and generic, it clearly needed to be redesigned in order to give it a fresh look which would encourage individuals to read the classic books again. By choosing a series of bright complementary colours, silhouettes of different shapes and simple lined illustrations created a clean yet refreshing design that would stand out on the shelf. Each of the three books has its own set of colours as well as different illustrations. With the illustrations and elements, patterning elements were created for the inside page of each book.
