The Beachcombers Retreat will execute the design concept of beachcombing the shorelines in Port Renfrew. Port Renfrew is known for its extensive beaches and tidal pools. By selecting natural materials and integrating shoreline design elements, guests will be surrounded by features illustrating this classic west coastline. They will have the opportunity to enjoy being able to relax in a luxurious serene environment while feeling integrated into the local environment. The project will be two stories offering spaces for guests to enjoy the amenities but also retreat to private areas to relax and indulge.
The large lobby will carry guests into the main area of the retreat. The center displays a beautiful glass staircase that will offer additional elevated light from the windows on the second story. The lounge area features a wood feature wall with mirrors, mimicking the ripple of the shoreline when the light bounces over it.
Designing a small gallery off the main lobby area allows guests to walk through pieces featured by local artists. The pieces selected will help bring awareness to the local area, in terms of support a minimal footprint. Allowing Port Renfrew to stay quiet and peaceful.
Choosing natural textures and materials will allow the space to feel calming and open. The retreat spa has a goal of maintaining an organic and eco-conscious spa treatment list and by keeping the area neutral and raw, they will coordinate nicely with their organic standards.
The dining area can be rearranged to accommodate a variety of numbers of guests. It has a feature cement wall that is half exposed with ornate metal fish.
Both regular suites and deluxe suites boast large windows for ample natural lighting. Each suite has a vaulted wood feature ceiling that seamlessly melts into the wood wall panels. The bathrooms feature a combination of marble slabs and tile. A unique lighting fixture gives the illusion of floating jellyfish commonly found along the west coast. Incorporating blues and creams bring a hint of color to the relaxing spaces.
