Styling Military Style Fashion Editorial

The objective of the project was to create a fashion magazine editorial. The desired style was military. One outfit had to be for the cover and three for the editorial. Each outfit must include at least one article that costs less than a $100.

Cover Outfit. Military Chic

I chose this beautiful mini dress by Dundas to start the story. Its pattern is inspired by the military camouflage clothes with a predomination of green, brown, and beige colours, which are very typical of the style. However. The construction of the dress is very elegant and dressy. Most of it is executed in sequin. However, there is another touch of femininity in the dress: black lace. As a head accessory I chose the Tom Ford scarf, which reminded me of the military headbands. However, in the context of the feminine chic dress it could be also translated as something very edgy and dressy. To complete the look, I chose a Bottega Veneta woven clutch in the military green to black ombre, and the Steve Madden stiletto sandal.

The second outfit is

Day in a City

The second outfit is representing a military chic style for a modern city woman. As a base, it has a camouflage pattern skirt. This pattern is inspired by military. However, the cut, length and the material of the skirt are rather chic. The pleats, the flowy silk and the knee length make it very feminine. The Mango shirt is also inspired by military uniform based on its colour and cut. Moreover, the large utility chest pockets add to the style. I chose the Saint Laurent belt bag to add chic to the ensemble. The army hiking boots by Rag and Bone are also inspired by military uniform shoes. The sunglasses with the camo print and the leather bracelet would complete the look.

Enjoying Spring

The vegan leather straight legged pants by Nanushka are made of army-green colour. The style resembles the German uniform, as they also used leather for their coats. However, they are very modern and chic at the same time and therefore, I thought to style the pants with a cream bodysuit by Zara and mid-heeled mules of a matching colour. The camo print Canadian Goose jacket would add the military spirit to the ensemble. For accessories, I chose a gold Chanel chain-lock necklace. It would match the gold chain of the Fendi shoulder bag, which I chose for its colours and its elegance.

For the last outfit,

Party Time

For the last outfit, I chose the Pierre Balmain high-waisted army green wool shorts. They reminded me of officers’ uniform due to the colour, the woolen material and a double row of buttons. I would like to pair them with the camo-inspired print blouse. Even though the print refers to the military style, the ruffles and the flowy silk material make it very feminine. I matched the buttons of the shorts with the button earrings. For shoes I also chose camo print high heeled sandals. I also added tulle socks, which have a black contrasting seam in the back. Oscar de la Renta spherical clutch is making the overall composition glamorous and chic.
