Japanese Woodcuts have been a referent point for a number of ‘modern techniques’ or art movements since the west started to hace certain fascination about it in the second haf of the 19th century. It is belived that it was a great inspiration in the beginnings of graphic design and neo traditional tattoo. While in Japan the ukiyo-e prints were not seen as Works of art but as media elements or even ludic elements which were part of the daily life during the Edo Period (1603-1868), the majority of them were a representation of the Edo locality, Tokyo in the modern day, and its Kabuki theatre. The collection goes hand to hand with the aspect that ukiyo-e was made to be an easily acessible asset that could be used in a really casual way in everyday life without losing a really interesting characteristic used in certain woodcuts that avoided that the receptor could decipher the whole information at first glance, this aspect was used in the creation of the silhouettes of certain garments.
