Tipi (also called as Teepee) is a type of shelter, shaped like a cone and traditionally made from wooden poles and coverings sewn from the hides of bison. They provide shelter, warmth, and community connectedness. On a spiritual note, the entrance faces the east and the back faces the west. This symbolizes the rising and setting of the sun and cardinal directions. The concept of this project brings in the characteristics of the tipi. The poles represent obedience, respect, happiness, cleanliness, appreciation, strength, hope, ultimate protection, etc. all these characteristics make a strong foundation for this project. Also considering the angled and organic shapes that make a tipi will be reflected in wayfinding, patterns, and shapes. Kids are pure at heart; giving them their space will nurture their imagination, freedom to be themselves, interact freely and with open arms willingly do things, learn and still be at peace. A lot of pastel colors with bright yellow and orange are used to make space a happy and memorable experience for the children TIPI CHILDREN’S LIBRARY ADD WINGS TO YOUR LEARNING
