Geometric Swimwear

The swimwear mini collection is inspired by Sonia Delaunay. Sonia Delaunay (14 November 1885 – 5 December 1979) was a French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She co-founded the Orphism art movement, noted for its use of strong colours and geometric shapes, with her husband Robert Delaunay and others. Her work in modern design included the concepts of geometric abstraction, and the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing into her art practice.

The print is created using red, orange and yellow-orange, which is analogous harmony. Analogous color schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. They usually match well and create serene and comfortable designs. The black and the yellowish nude are used to blend well between the other colours. The waistline of the garments is in black colour just to create the effect of slimmer waist. There is contrast of saturation in the print. Contrast of saturation is the contrast between pure, intense colors and dull, diluted ones. Moreover, there is also hue difference between the colours in the print. Hue difference means that one colour can looks like 2. The more the ground different, the more they influence the colour of the figure on top.

The print is created by blue and orange, which is complementary harmony. Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel are complementary colors. The high contrast of complementary colors creates a vibrant look especially when used at full saturation. This color scheme must be managed well so it is not jarring. The print is having the contrast of proportion. This contrast is formed by assigning proportional field sizes in relation to the visual weight of a color, such as the blue and the orange. The extension of a color in a composition must be inversely proportional to its intensity. It is used to create visual effects or harmonize other contrasts such as the complementary contrast.

The print is created by green, blue and yellow, which is the contrast of light & dark and warm & cool. The white is for blending all the colours well. The contrasts are making the print more like 3D. It’s also called colour relativity in interaction of colours. The square of the print look closer or far away, depending on what colour they are, creating an effect of depth.

The print are created by red, yellow-orange, yellow, blue, violet and tael blue. There are 2 types of harmonies of the combinations as the prints, which are complementary (blue & yellow-orange) (violet & yellow) and analogous (tael & blue & violet). The red is for making the effect of depth of the yellow-orange. Moreover, the combination of violet & yellow is in complementary contrast. This combination allows us to perceive color in the most precise way, but it can be somewhat violent to the eye, since both colors are perceived enhanced in intensity and vibration. To harmonize this coordination, it is advisable to keep one of the hues pure and lighten or darken the other. The pure tone should not take up a large space because it should be inversely proportional to its intensity. Besides, both of the complementary combinations also with the contrast of warm and cool. The greater the difference in temperature between hues, the greater the visual contrast. The cool part on the analogous combination is making the complementary combination (diamond shape) brighter, it’s because of light intensity. For not making the garments duller therefore the waistband is using the bright colour.

The print is created by all the colours from the colour palette. The print is inspired by the artwork of Sonia Delaunay. The black and the white are for blending all the colour well as the harmony of achromatic. There's contrast of warm and cool in the print with all the colours inside. And there's interactions of after-effect with the complementary colours and the red & white in the print.
