Staff and Faculty FAQ's

The well-being of our staff and faculty is extremely important. Sharing and communicating effectively are values that we adhere to. As a staff and faculty member of the LCI Education network we have at your disposition a list of FAQ's aiming to help you better understand this definitive agreement for the purchase of The Art Institute of Vancouver and what this means for you.

• 1. As a staff or faculty member, what are the benefits of the acquisition?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver is joining a strong, Canadian-owned global network of leading private post-secondary institutions. This new partnership will provide students with enhanced opportunities for learning and skill development in Vancouver's creative industries while offering additional opportunities to pursue an international education through the LCI Education network as well as the following:

  • Financially stable.
  • Faculty can collaborate world-wide, exposing them to different cultures and global curriculum.
  • Staff and faculty have the ability to apply to any job in the 22 School network.
  • Staff and faculty will be part of a global learning community, and be exposed to global trends and opportunities.
  • Exposure to a diversity of cultures, with students from over 75 countries enrolled in LCI schools.
  • Access to a Learning Zone with over 190 e-learning professional development capsules.
  • Access to 6 shared services available through the LCI Education headquarters based in Montreal: Pedagogy, IT, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and Real Estate and Auxiliary Services
  • Canadian owned with over 60 years of experience in educating talented individuals for the creative industries world-wide.
• 2. Any other substantive changes anticipated that may impact Ai-Vancouver operations or the student experience including, but not limited to: the name of the institution, student policies, location, facilities, equipment, and learning infrastructure?

  Ai-Vancouver’s existing policies and administrative structure will be maintained, as this will ensure the preservation of the status quo and ensure continuity with quality controls and existing standards in accordance with the criteria which the programs and the institution was originally assessed.

  There are no other substantive changes anticipated that may impact Ai-Vancouver’s operations or the student experience including, but not limited to, student policies, location, facilities, equipment and learning infrastructure.

• 3. Will faculty and staff have to work at both campuses?

  Staff will continue to work at their current location, and as always we will be evaluating best practices.

• 4. Why is LCI Education network acquiring The Art Institute of Vancouver?

  Acquiring leading private, post-secondary educational institutions is an important part of LCI’s strategy to enrich the learning environment and job opportunities for students, strengthen our organization financially and operationally, and enhance our reputation as a leading global network of private educational institutions.

  The Art Institute of Vancouver is a leading provider of creative education in the post secondary market in Vancouver so it makes sense that we join forces to become the premier private post-secondary institute for the creative sector in all of BC!

• 5. Will there be any changes to programs offered at either campus?

  There will be no immediate change to programs. A committee consisting of staff and faculty from both AiV and LCV will work together to determine optimum programming as a matter of ongoing operations.

• 6. Are there any immediate changes to be communicated to potential students regarding The Art Institute of Vancouver, curricula, or costs?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver will operate as a sister institute to LaSalle College Vancouver as part of the LCI Education network. Class structures, tuition fees, and school names will remain the same for the immediate future. Committees will be formed consisting of faculty and staff from both institutions to ensure best practices as part of ongoing activities.

• 7. Do LCI Education and The Arts Institute of Vancouver offer professional development to staff and faculty?

  The Learning Zone, available on the Agora, is the online learning platform for all employees around the LCI Education network.

  It was developed in response to the request made in the last «We’re all ears survey» to increase the supply of available trainings and to facilitate the professional development of all employees.

  We will retain our license agreement with Lynda.com for further professional development. Lynda.com is also free if you have a Vancouver public library card.

• 8. Will The Art Institute of Vancouver still be bound by US regulations?

  No. That's another advantage of being owned by a Canadian entity.

• 9. Will The Art Institute of Vancouver continue to offer degrees?

  Yes! LCI confirms that that the existing corporate entity, Ai-Vancouver (BC corporation number BC0704175), will remain in place and continue to provide and grant the degrees under ministerial consents.

• 10. What is the criteria and process for submitting our syllabi for next term?

  All operations will remain as is, unless otherwise notified.

• 11. As an agent / recruiter for The Art Institute of Vancouver or LaSalle College Vancouver, will any changes be made to the recruitment process?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver will operate as a sister institute to LaSalle College Vancouver as part of the LCI Education network. No change will be made to the recruitment process at either campus.
