Heirloom is inspired by culture of Chinese Peranakan in Semarang, Central Java. By combining Chinese and Javanese culture, one of Batik Peranakan motif became a guide for the main detail, while the silhouettes inspiration came from the shapes of building, carvings, and paintings inside the temples there. Combined with black, yellow, silver, shades of grey and a touch of blue. Elegant semi-loose gown featuring a tough of cultural influence by adding embroideries and beadings that styled and shaped like Batik in the whole look. | Design, Pattern, and Sew by Kelly Vallerie.
This is my design for HEIRLOOM Couture Collection. I finished the production of this couture gown in the middle of December 2014. After that, in early 2015 my couture design has been chosen by the lecturers as the only one design that will be used to be an object of shooting for the poster and invitation of LaSalle College Jakarta Graduation Show 2015.
And the model was Ayu Gani, she is the winner of Asia's Next Top Model 2015! I was lucky that I could have worked together with her.
Bird painting idea came when I was visiting a temple in Semarang, where on the walls there are paintings of birds perched on a tree branch. Based on that idea, I repainted the idea into a painting then took a picture of it and I made it as a printing treatment.
It's the result;)
When the fashion show was about to begin..
After bird painting, I put full beadings and embroideries on the gown.
