My client is a wealthy businessman who lives on a lake with his wife and two little daughters. He has hired me to redesign their family room in the basement. The client would like a play area that can inspire children's artistic creativity and passion for painting and a leisure area with comfortable furniture that can accommodate six to eight people. It is a relatively new room, approximately 20' by 36', with nice architectural qualities, such as 9 feet high ceiling, overhead joists, a beautiful fireplace, and even a lake view. On the side facing the lake, there are four large 4' by 6' windows and a door on the corner leading to the deck. The other three walls of this space lead to a series of small rooms and the stairway to the first floor. After analyzing the layout of the entire space, combining the client's needs, my design will introduce the following concepts: Radio rhythm, Asymmetry, Linear structure. I will talk about the detail after.
