Infernum Script

A font inspired by the calligraphy in the Codex Gigas which is the biggest and the most infamous illuminated manuscript, which is also known as the devil’s bible. The legend A monk broke monastery vows and was sentenced to death. To escape the punishment he offered to create a book to glorify the monastery. The book was supposed to have all the knowledge known to man and was to be created in one night. He began his attempt to finish the book but when he realized he could not finish then he made a prayer to Lucifer. With his help, the book was completed overnight and to show gratitude an illustration of Lucifer was placed in the book. To replicate the monk’s conditions the font was made using a homemade pen, India ink, satanic music and one light before digitization.
