Renaissance

The purpose of this project was to read and comprehend the story of Romeo & Juliet by Shakespeare. Taking into consideration the storyline of a city divide by two feuding families. We were asked to assign either warm or cold colors, to each family and the characters belonging to them. The character I ended up evidently focusing on more was the Nurse, Juliet's caretaker. As a part of the Capulet family, I had assign them to warm tones, because I saw the Capulet's as a group of eccentric bourgeoisie with a show off, boisterous attitude and fiery passion which could be a double-edged sword. The Nurse is not your typical quiet-type, she is quirky, loyal to Juliet and has a loose-tongue with a lively personality. This costume was inspired by the authentic styles and aesthetic of British fashion from 1580 to 1620. The intent was to create this costume to be showcased in a television series, I envision my design for the character of the nurse to fit in perfectly as the comic relief in this time period drama-series.
