Japanese Tea Ceremony Set

Tea is a traditional ritual and culture in Japan. Zen culture is very connected with the Japanese tea culture, so this package design is made for a Japanese tea ceremony set. Zen reminds me of the rock garden in Japanese culture. People meditate in front of the rock garden to empty their minds. The rock garden is formed like a miniature landscape. The stones represent the mountains, and the lines on the sand represent the river. The seven packages combine together to form a miniature Japanese rock garden. One of the main philosophies of Zen is emptiness, also meaning purity. Therefore each package is designed to be as minimal as possible. To make people more engaged with the Zen concept, each package will have its own unique philosophical quote on the side, such as “forgive everything”.

Logo Design

The logo is a Japanese character of the word "tea" that is shaped like the architectural structure of the Japanese temple because traditional tea ceremonies are hosted in the temple. Behind the "tea" character is a drop of ink dripping onto the paper, inspired by traditional Japanese calligraphy.
