One Out of Two is an illustrated book designed and written by me, sharing the story of the years in which I had kidney cancer when I was only 7 months old. This story is to inspire people from all around the world whose lives have been touched by this sickness by opening to the possibility of being sold at cancer non-for-profit foundations. Consisting of 3 parts, this book begins by explaining the general story, and continues by sharing my family’s perspective and stories of those years. Concluding with my own point of view after 20 years of surviving cancer, I created a meaningful metaphor of how my kidney and me have grown together throughout the years. The design of the book illustrates a time lapse journal of those years from childhood to young adulthood. The sketchbook like and organic style represents the youthful voice. The original illustrations utilize a variety of brushes in Procreate and are combined with photographic images. The typographical elements are all composed using InDesign. A simplistic colour palette of pinks is used to represent my personality and feminine side, which has always stand out in me since I was a baby.
