Reformation, an online clothing retailer for women, began its business in the fashion world by selling vintage clothing in its home town of Los Angeles. The business expanded to producing its own clothing designs based on vintage prints, styles, as well as sustainability. Reformation is a young company that has gained a loyal following in North America and globally. The clothing is hip, playful, and reminiscent of laid-back west coast style of the mid-20th century. This design project involved creating an office space for Reformation in Vancouver’s city centre, acting as the Canadian headquarters for the brand. The office space had to house two private offices, a boardroom, reception, break area, small meeting zone, and an open office space for four employees. Given the brand’s strong aesthetic identity – namely vintage prints and whimsical shapes – the concept chosen for the design follows the geometric and floral patterns used on Reformation’s signature sundresses, while paying homage to the brand’s vintage routes. To bring the concept to fruition, ceramic tiles with printed patterns, geometric pattern wallpaper and upholstery, saturated hues, and mid-century modern millwork design, was used. The following pages show the design process from space planning and sketches to working drawings and final renders.
