Joy’s designs are inspired by past events in her life. Joy designed an angel wings ear cuff in honour of her late father. Her choice of sterling silver was because it was her father’s favourite metal. The angel wing cuff was hand-carved and textured showcasing the many feathers of an angel wing. The black ear cuff was designed with dried rose petals, and silk fabric for the wings, with a resin-based cuff. These materials are very soft in touch, pure, and are a light colour. However, to add a dramatic change to the design, she manipulated the colours to black by using various pigments.
