HARNESS

HARNESS is a mockup brand that I have created as my project at LIGNES DE FUITE’s Speculative Design Course. The goal was to discover a micro trend that has the potential to grow exponentially within the coming decades and become a global trend. In my research I had discovered that certain buildings—both public and private—are harnessing human body heat from people within the respective building, storing it, then transforming it into energy that can power the building itself and nearby buildings as well. From this discovery, I speculated a world in which this reaches its final conclusion: a world powered by humans. No more water waste through hydroelectricity, no more unreliable solar panels, or potentially disaster out nuclear energy. these are all replaced with more sustainable, consistent source of energy—body heat. As we speak, there is currently developed a felt fabric that absorbs the wearer’s heat and converts it into energy. If the wearer places their phone in contact with the felt being worn, their phone will charge. This felt and fabrics that will potentially be made in the future will be key to facilitating this speculated world. It will allow wearers to charge their phones, cars, homes, and beyond. However, If we are to do away with other forms of electricity and commit to this new alternative, then everyone will need to be on board. Everyone will need to wear garments that will outwardly project their body heat to power their cities. That is where HARNESS comes in. HARNESS is a brand that produces these types of garments for citizens of the world to wear, while also allowing the wearer to display their heat output and how often the wear the garment. HARNESS is the brand of the future, powering the world one garment at a time.

HARNESS Box

A mockup version of the box within which my proposed garment will be stored when bought. Displayed is the brand logo and the name of the garment.

HARNESS Garment Tag

A mockup tag that will be hung on the garment. Displayed is the brand logo and a disclaimer on the backside.

HARNESS Pamphlet

A mockup pamphlet that will be included in the box along with the garment. Displayed is the brand logo and corresponding apps that encourage users to connect with other HARNESS wearers.
